The Investigative Process
This is the basic process for a child abuse investigation. Each case is different and may vary from this process.
First Step
Child makes an outcry: a report has been made to Child Protective Services or law enforcement
Second Step
Basic information is obtained from child by law enforcement or Child Protective Services
Third Step
Law enforcement or Child Protective Services contacts West Texas Children’s Advocacy Center to schedule an interview
Fourth Step
Depending on the circumstances, the child may be scheduled for medical examination
